Rules and Guidelines – Sjøbadstua
The sauna is available for rental between 06:00 and 23:00.
Sjøbadstua is located by the parking area of Ørland Cultural Centre. The area belongs to the municipality, and Sjøbadstua rents the space. The sauna must NOT be moved.
Safety
- Use of the sauna and sea bathing is at your own risk. Bathing alone is not recommended.
- Only fresh water may be used on the stove. Saltwater will damage it. Please fill water from the toilet building to the left of the sauna.
- The stove is hot: keep a safe distance and never place anything on top of it.
- Drink water before, during, and after sauna use to avoid dehydration.
- Alcohol is not recommended in the sauna or when bathing. Wait until afterwards.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Listen to your body – leave the sauna if you feel unwell.
- Pregnant individuals, people with illnesses, or those with medical conditions (for example heart problems) should consult a doctor before using the sauna.
Hygiene
- Bring two towels. Always sit on a towel – never directly on the wood.
- Swimwear is required in the sauna.
- Shoes, oils, soaps, or creams are not allowed in the sauna.
- Please use the municipal toilet located to the left of the sauna if needed.
Respect & Responsibility
- Show consideration for nearby buildings and residents. No loud music or unnecessary noise.
- Leave the sauna and surrounding area clean and tidy. Clean up if needed and use the floor squeegee to remove excess water. All trash must be disposed of properly.
- Food and smoking are not allowed inside the sauna.
- Please exit the sauna before the next guests arrive.
Self-Service Sauna
Sjøbadstua is self-service. If there is no booking before yours, you may arrive up to 55 minutes before your booking to fire up the sauna yourself. Alternatively, you can purchase an additional service to have the sauna preheated before your booking.
Responsibility and Liability
Sjøbadstua is self-service, and responsible use is required. All users must follow the applicable rules both inside and around the sauna.
Users are financially responsible for any damage to the sauna or its equipment caused by improper use or negligence.
Violation of the rules may result in claims for compensation, removal from the premises, and/or exclusion from future use of Sjøbadstua. The owner reserves the right to take such measures in case of rule violations.
The owner is responsible for conducting a physical inspection of the sauna at least once per week.
